That being said, I'm a one woman show and proud to be so. But as the podcast grows, so do the expenses. Inspiring listeners and providing an outlet for those in the creative fields to have their voices and work heard/read/seen etc. is vital, and the reason for podcasting. But I can't do it without your help!
My primary aim is to be able to reinvest in the show, support the guests, and give back to the listener community.
Where will the funds go?
- Podcast maintenance (hosting fees, subscription fees, upgraded software, equipment, consultations and professional services directly related to podcasting)
- Supporting the direct work that guests make. i.e. purchasing books or cds or artwork of the guest to then giveaway to listeners, and donating to a guest's project, or general livelihood so they can continue creating
- Swag for listeners via giveaways
- Securing celebrity guests who require appearance fees
- Charitable donations
Rational: It is not enough for the podcast to be inspiring. For continued success, and growth, one must produce a high quality show with high listener interest that delivers something of value.
While I firmly believe my podcast already has and continues to deliver high quality, valuable content, I'm always striving to be better, and do better. That led me down a path that includes investing in software, subscriptions to professional services, consultations with professionals such as social media managers, and of course upgraded equipment.
It is no secret that those in the creative and fine art fields often have unstable income, or struggle to make ends meet due to not being paid their worth. Ultimately, I want to provide large scale grants/donations to guests who indicate a need. Funds for guest artists would go toward materials and equipment for them to continue creating in whatever form that would take. For example, funds could go toward a painter to upgrade equipment, an indie author to afford new covers, a playwright to hire actors for a project, a band to go on, or extend a regional tour, a musician to invest in a higher quality instrument, a non-profit to continue thriving, etc.
Additionally, in order to increase the variety of guests, and continue to engage listeners, who would then ideally contribute to the show, I'd like to be able to afford guests that charge appearance fees. Celebrity guests occasionally appear for free, but not all. Celebrity guests draw in listeners. Of course they have amazing things to share, but it also provides staying power for a listener to then hear the rising star guests. Rising star guests have an EQUALLY important voice and deserve to be heard.
